PRISM Photography Network and the Centre for Developmental Science at the University of Birmingham are pleased to welcome Dr Neil Gibson for a talk on therapeutic photography. Dr Neil Gibson is a social worker, academic and leading practitioner in therapeutic photography based in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was Associate Dean at Robert Gordon University, where he developed the world’s first postgraduate course in therapeutic photography. His research and practice focus on how structured photographic activities can enhance self‑esteem, resilience and self‑efficacy for people with experiences of mental health difficulties, autism, caring responsibilities and social marginalisation.
This event will be of interest to psychologists, social workers, educators, therapists, community practitioners, photographers and anyone curious about the role of visual storytelling in human development and neurodiversity.

Those driving may wish to use the North‑East Car Park; those arriving by train should allow around 15 minutes to walk from University station. Room 225 is on the second floor; posters with arrows will be placed around the building to guide you.
