PRISM PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE - AUTUMN 2024
Finally Open the registration for the PRISM Photography Course!
Starting from the 7th September we will run a series of 12 workshops where you will learn (or rehearse) the basics of photography techniques and learn how to read a photographic image. Most importantly we will spend the majority of the time developing a documentary photography project focussed on the neighbourhood of Stirchley.
This is for everybody with a keen interest in using photography as an observation tool. No previous knowledge required. It can be done with a smartphone, although a limited number of DSLR cameras are available on loan.
We will be working for 3 months, every Saturday morning, to document the life of Stirchley and ultimately produce a Zine and an exhibition at Stirchley Baths. During this period, we will walk around Stirchley with a camera looking at different aspects of the neighbourhood. Among the activities planned, we will take portraits, interview people, and interact with the local activity groups (i.e. Stirchley history group) to learn interesting stories about this exciting neighbourhood.
It’s a great opportunity to learn what it is to be a documentary photographer while having fun together.
The course is delivered by Oksana Bischin with the support of some of the members of the PRISM Photography Network. Oxana is a professional photographer with a master’s in visual Anthropology from University of Manchester. For a short Biography click here.
The course is initially available for the next two weeks at the discounted price of £168 (plus eventbrite fees) for the full 12 sessions (£14 per session). Only 12 places available. People purchasing this course will automatically be members of the PRISM network for a year.
After July 30th, you will as well be allowed to buy tickets for each session separately at the cost of £20. So the course is available at 30% discount if bought as a full package.
